January 2009—Mocha Sisters Organizationâ will honor charter members and newest members with induction into the organization, on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 12:30pm at Looscan Neighborhood Library.
The ceremony will induct 12 ladies as charter members. The Dallas Branch President, Christina D. Taylor will preside over the ceremony to install the Houston Branch of Mocha Sisters Organization, and to teach inductees how to conduct themselves as a member and procedures of induction.
Mocha Sisters Organization® (MSO, pronounced “M-so”) is an organization created and designed to articulate and promote community awareness (community service), bring unity among women, teach networking skills with other influential and innovative women of color, provide scholarships, and provide a mentoring program females.
The majority of members’ time is spent in community service, providing a mentoring program and scholarships for college/university. At MSO we instill in our sisters a greater awareness of the need for commitment to our community- to become more responsive to the needs and concerns of our communities.
The Houston Branch is currently being led by Crystal Streety. Charter Members include: Angela L., Barbara S., Tassandra A., Crystal S., Luneicia W., Tracee B., Donielle L., Evelyn R., Joslyn C., Kristina H., Rita H., and Franchesca L.
